8. Repair of Pavements and Road Surfaces
To ensure that road and pavement surfaces are maintained to a high standard.
When asked if they are satisfied with the current state of repair of the highways within the town approximately 64% of questionnaire respondents said 'NO' with regard to both pavements and roads.
Focus group comments include "some of our friends can't get around very easily because they are in wheelchairs," "The paving in Ross Town causes problems for those disabled or elderly", and "Partially sighted people would also struggle with the pavements in Ross."

The subject of potholes is an ongoing issue that is dealt with reactively by the Highways Department of Herefordshire Council and its contractor, Amey. More recently there is evidence that there is a programmed schedule of repairs with signs appearing on Walford Road and adjoining side roads that resurfacing work is imminent. |
