11. Walking Routes

To increase opportunities for people to walk rather than having to resort to more expensive and polluting means of transport to reach their destination.

According to questionnaire results better management and extension of walking routes may lead to 25% of respondents walking more for pleasure and 11% more for work and pleasure.

This is another activity that people visit the area specifically to take part in and which brings revenue with it in addition to being an environmentally friendly and sustainable form of transport for the local population. Goodrich Court Focus Group suggested that the footpaths by the river be extended to the left (towards Wilton Bridge).

The aim is to encourage people to walk, both for recreation and to their place of work.

It is necessary to identify several of the walks and shortcuts in and around Ross and to improve the signage. The initiative for this could come from the two walking groups in Ross liaising with the Town Council.
