14. Sports Centres
To improve sporting facilities in Ross-on-Wye.
35% of respondents to this question also made written comments in the questionnaire with suggestions as to what Ross is currently lacking, this one being typical:
"There needs to be a dedicated sports centre where the majority of sports can be practised. Also more pitches for more female orientated sports such as netball and hockey (note: lacrosse is also mentioned by other contributors).......There also need to be facilities for squash and badminton."
The state of the Wilton Road Sports Centre building / facilities is widely accepted to be deplorable and sub-standard.

Investigate the implementation of The Ross Sports and Leisure Federation (RSLF) feasibility study on the Wilton Sports Ground and local sports/community centres e.g. Tudorville Community Centre. Support the development of a robust business case and change Tudorville Youth Centre into a self-funding, viable Community Centre. Investigate shared use of John Kyrle High School (JKHS) and other school facilities. |
